Humanly 2019 Branding
For the 2019 Humanly Exhibition, our cohort was separated into production teams in order to bring the event to fruition. I was chosen to be on the branding/visual identity team, which I was quite happy about because branding is one of my favourite tasks as a designer. Though the bare bones of the logo were already established from the previous two years of Humanly, my team and I wanted to give it a fresh spin and take a completely different direction than the previous years. After months of iteration and revision, we ended up 'slicing' some of the letters in the original logo and adding an umlaut above the 'u' to create a subtle 'smiley' to emphasize focus on human-centered design. We created an overlay backdrop with semi-transparent versions of the letters making up the spelling of Humanly, and refined our colour scheme down to 4 main brand colours. We chose Lovelo and Rubik as our brand typefaces. Our visual identity system was summarized into a style guide and used to create marketing materials for the event, including invitations, posters, signage, nametags, and a take-home publication.
